Seasons 1-8 is when shippers submit bids on two shipments via uShip using a reverse auction model. Bids include a description of the possible risks and potential costs as well as the motivations and capabilities. The task is typically assigned to the bidder with the lowest price at the time that the auction closes. But, at the discretion of the client it could be assigned to a bidder that has received a superior rating in feedback from previous clients. In the case of the lowest bid the tie will be dissolved by the feedback rating. In the season 9 finale, shippers get their cargo from an intermediary in shipping, and the bidding process isn't shown.Winners load their cargo and attempt to complete the delivery by the client's or receiver's deadline. The feedback ratings of clients are shown when the loads are delivered. The total revenue for each shipper and costs (fuel as well as late-delivery penalties), is displayed on-screen at the end. are subtracted from the bid to calculate the overall revenue or loss. Sometimes, a shipper may arrange to transport multiple loads at the same time, with the extra money figured into their tally. Sometimes, a shipper might not be able finish a job because of concerns regarding the weight of the load and road safety. Sometimes, one shipper will contract the help of a different shipper to finish a task. The shippers will then decide which way to split the earnings. In seasons 1-8, the progress of each ship is interspersed by humorous critiques from other shippers.
