In the year 2017 Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it became the most-streamed song that time, within just 6 months. It combines pop and reggaeton that not only brought new attention to reggaeton, but more interest in Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs that were Spanish mainly, and 4 more songs in the year the year 2016. In 2017, during the peak of popularity for Despacito 19, 19 tracks mostly Spanish were included in the Billboard Top 100. In the year 2020 there will be 41 songs in this category. Following Justin Bieber's bilingual remix of Despacito (2017) well-known artists soon began collaborating with reggaeton artists, including Drake with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) as well as Madonna with Maluma in Medellin (2019). At the time of 2020, some reggaeton stars were complaining about that the genre was moving towards mainstream. But a fresh generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to continue the evolution of reggaeton. He often included elements from electronic dance and other genres.
